It was the best of the other versions in terms of its study guide content and unit approach for math and vocabulary building and tailorability for lower level. But start early. In this way, one can receive class-like tutoring from this book. This comprehensive study guide provides students with all of the resources they need for test day preparation. This is one of the books that cover all the three levels of the test. It would be much more effective if they could create different books for the different levels. We used it for the ISEE Each strategy is explained in a step-wise manner and practice exercises are given. But overall the test prep content is excellent, and my daughter is light years more prepared than she would have been without doing this work book.

I actually recently co-wrote 15 new ISEE practice test that are just now available at iseepracticetest. But the book gives the student a good number of Cracking the SSAT & ISEE book, well beyond the strategy of elimination, which most students should find useful.

The SSAT contains sections that ask students analogies, synonyms, reading comprehension, and math questions, and the ISEE includes synonyms, fill-in-the-sentence-blanks, reading comprehension, and math sections, and both tests include an essay, which is not graded but is sent to the schools to which the students are applying.
The further implication is the reading comprehension answers are also potentially wrong, as would be the entire value of their sample test books. I think they were really helpful, especially for someone who hasn't taken a ton of standardized tests like this.
